The service
The Living Archive lets you converse with AI-generated personas of historical figures and places. Responses are generated by large language models and may contain errors. The service is for education and entertainment — it is not a substitute for primary sources or professional advice.
Accounts
You must be at least 13 years old to create an account. You are responsible for keeping your password confidential and for activity on your account.
Subscriptions & billing
- Paid plans (Pro, Scholar, Time Traveler) renew monthly until canceled.
- Charges are processed by Stripe. Cancel any time from your Account page; access continues through the end of the paid period.
- Voice credits reset at the start of each billing period and do not roll over.
- Prices are in USD and may change with notice for future billing periods.
Acceptable use
You agree not to:
- Use the service to produce defamatory, harassing, or unlawful content.
- Scrape, resell, or reverse-engineer the service.
- Attempt to bypass usage limits, rate limits, or paid features.
- Misrepresent generated content as actual quotations from real people.
Content disclaimer
Personas are AI portrayals based on the historical record. They can be incorrect, incomplete, or anachronistic. Verify important facts against primary sources.
Intellectual property
The Living Archive name, logo, and original interface are owned by the operators. You own the questions you ask. Generated responses may be used for personal, non-commercial purposes.
Termination
We may suspend or terminate accounts that violate these terms. You may stop using the service at any time.
Disclaimers
The service is provided "as is" without warranties of any kind. To the fullest extent permitted by law, the operators are not liable for indirect or consequential damages arising from your use of the service.
Changes
We may update these terms; material changes will be announced in the app or by email. Continued use after changes constitutes acceptance.
